I have a couple of small scale mushroom grow tents. I am working on perfecting the growth cycle of a couple of mushrooms, shiitake and lions mane, but I am also playing around with reishi and cordyceps. I enjoy foraging mushrooms, both edible and medicinal, to make food, extracts, teas, and tinctures. With all the spores floating around Juneau, contamination can be a very tricky issue when it comes to creating a healthy and safe environment for my mycelium. I run an air filter system in my grow room and practice many sterilization methods in order to make sure my mushroom cakes are safe from outside spores, bacteria, and mold. I am working on patience with each grow cycle- it can take up to two months from start to finish.
