Dahlia - Ferncliff Classy is classy.
Dahlias are easy to grow in Juneau. Dahlias have big leaves to help them collect daylight and they love the rain. They produce blooms in all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes.
They can be started indoors in pots to give them a head start or plant them in the ground. Plant outside after all danger of frost is past. Plant them where they will receive at least 6 hours of sun per day. Use a 5 to 6 foot tall stake to tie them to so the wind does not blow them over. For more blooms and color throw a handful of bonemeal in the hole with them at planting time.
Grow them in large pots (over 12 inches across) - when growing dahlias in large pots the soil should never be allowed to dry out.
