The Sitka Local Foods has been growing produce to sell at the Sitka Farmers Market for 13 years now at St. Peter's Fellowship Farm, located behind the See House at St. Peter's By The Sea Episcopal Church. Due to COVID-19 and the need to social distance to protect everybody's health and safety, in 2020 we are hosting a greatly scaled back Sitka Farmers Market at St. Peter's Fellowship Farm. We will sell small $20 farmer's choice produce baskets during our first couple of markets, and later in the summer we will add a large $40 basket. These produce baskets will feature a seasonal variety of locally grown veggies and fruit. Since we are using an online ordering system this year, we are having to change how we provide produce for SNAP/WIC clients this year (they should call 738-7310 or email sitkafarmersmarket@gmail.com to arrange for produce). Due to health and safety concerns, our volunteers will be masked and gloved, and we will have a hand-washing station and hand sanitizer available. We ask our customers to also wear masks, or stay in their cars while we bring their produce to them. St. Peter's Fellowship Farm and its satellite gardens use sustainable agriculture practices, with minimal chemical fertilizers and pest repellants. In 2019, we earned a Certified Naturally Grown designation.
